The fish we serve is supplied from sustainable sources. This means that the suppliers of our fish are meeting robust requirements: only fishing at a level which means it can continue indefinitely; and reducing the impact on the marine ecosystem.
This approach also encourages fisheries to develop new ways to conserve the ocean environment for future generations.
To ensure we do justice to that process, we only start cooking once your order is placed, maintaining the high quality of the fish we are lucky to have available to us.
If you are a fish eater but don’t care for the batter, then you can choose to have it grilled with a sprinkling of seasoning and fresh herbs. We are also a tad picky about all the extras.
The all-important batter is made from a special recipe using a blend of Shipton Mill flours and Cotswold Brew Co Premium Lager.
We make the fishcakes, goujons, chili and curry sauce, mushy peas and all the other bits and pieces in-house.
Our non-fishy extras are all top quality: frankfurters made by a top local charcutier; Wiltshire beef burgers in homemade baps; soft chicken goujons and sweet salad leaves from a nearby garden farm who delights in working alongside nature and respecting the wildlife.
Our potatoes are selected to enjoy the best the seasons have to offer. Always making great chips – cooked twice to give them a crispy skin and fluffy inside.
